Hampton Wins Eighth Straight Over Howard, 47-14 - Sept 12, 2004
HAMPTON, Va. - The Hampton University Pirates got two special teams touchdowns and a record four field goals and 17 points from kicker Andrew Paterini, as they claimed the mythical title of “The Real HU” by defeating rival Howard for the eighth consecutive time, 47-14. With the victory, the Pirates (2-0, 1-0 MEAC) captured their eighth straight MEAC opener, while the Bison fall to 0-2, 0-1 in conference play.

The Pirates jumped on top early taking their opening possession and driving 78 yards as Princeton Shepherd found Dereck Faulkner (3 rec., 61 yds., 1 TD) in the end zone for a 2-yard touchdown pass and a 7-0 Hampton lead less than five minutes into the game.

The Bison answered on their next possession with a 6-play, 63-yard drive of their own. Following a 15-yard personal foul against Hampton, Bison quarterback Marcos Moreno (7-of-19, 69 yds., 1 TD, 2 Int.) found Jarahn Williams for a 28-yard gain down to the Pirate 8-yard line. Moreno then found Ryen Wilson for the tying score with 7:19 to play in the first quarter.... more
